U8 Green

2-7 loss v Holy Cross College

SCORERS: Bryson (2)

It seemed that the boys had decided the season was already over even before they took to the field. But they had a great time socializing and chatting with each other.

Socializing aside, we saw some great efforts put in. Notably by Noah – whose powerful kicking wasn’t too far short of reaching the other end of the field, Bryson did well to finish off the goals when the team managed to set him up and, Nicholas made some fantastic saves while in goal.

Despite losing 7-2, overall, the boys enjoyed themselves.

I would like to thank the team and their supporters for all your efforts this season.

“Player” of the Match was reserved this week for Coach John, for all his efforts over the course of the season.

AA12 Semi Final

1-0 Win v St Andrews Blue

Scorer: Smitty

With the rain cutting down the finals to just the one semi, the Pumas needed to hold for a draw or a win to make the Grand Final. With Robbo and Cam cheering us on, Windy in Europe and Kyle back in the team, we had Poddy fill in with Southy still recovering from a futsal related ligament injury. With Kyle slotting in to the backline, Clayts proceeded to put on such a show up front that we were left bewildered. How, after 12 years of playing soccer, countless training and FIFA sessions to boot, airswing 5 shots on goal in one game?

Halftime was all about watching Clayts dig himself a hole to crawl into and die, while the rest of us checked the bushes to make sure Penny hadn’t snuck in to the crowd to enforce her curse on the poor man. Second half saw much more Pumas domination, but the Woodies almost stole the game with a speccy from outside the box, that Az guiding into the inside on the far post with a little ‘come on… miss!’ before Dru cleared. 20 seconds from time though, Rang, Erik and Smitty combined on a break for Smitty to pick up the win.

MOTM: Penny. Her range is increasing.

AA12 Round 4

1-0 win v Thornleigh

Scorers: Ranga

The boys wrapped up their regular season with another win, capping of an excellent, undefeated season. With top spot already wrapped up, the Pumas were looking at securing the points and keeping away from injuries, which was achieved comfortably over an improved Thunder outfit. The backs held out well, leaving Az with just the two saves required, while the mids and strikers again pressured the goal mouth, with Ranga eventually finding the back of the net. Dru continued his great late season form, belting several goal kicks out of the full, while Ranga and Robbo topped up the fine jar. The boys finished the season with just the 9 goals against, which is another great effort from the defensive unit. Unlike last year, the forwards have managed to support the backs, putting away winning scores to match the 7 clean sheets. Windy celebrated his last game of the season by bleeding, and Waters put on his dad hat by sending Smitty after a hack.

MOTM: Az, 2 good saves racked up the 7th clean sheet of the season – always going to pick up points when we defend like that.

U8 Green Round 4

0-1 loss v West Ryde Rovers B

It was a bit of a slow game today with the one and only goal being scored at the end of the first half. The boys had a good runaround with the ball constantly going from one end to the other.

Congratulations to Zachary for getting Player of the Match. He played a good game in defense and cleared a number of balls from up near our goal. Well done.

U8 Green Round 11

3-0 win v Redfield

SCORERS: Jasper McCrindle + 2, Nicholas Roberts + 1

Today’s game was the best we have had all season. The boys were all dribbling and passing well. Our goalies, Tim and Bryson, did a great job and Zachary got some great kicks in today.

Congratulations to Jasper for getting Player of the Match. He positioned himself well, dribbled well, scored two goals and helped set Nicholas up for the third goal. He played an all round great game today. Well done.

AA12 Round 11

5-1 win v Thornleigh

Scorers: Robbo 2, Smitty, Windy, Erik

The Pumas celebrated wrapping up the minor premiership last week by producing another great game against the Thunder. With Southy joining Kyle and Cam on the injury list and Az partying it up in Singapore, Clayts settled back into his favored position between the posts. To celebrate, he and Dru decided to concede nice and early, starting off what would be clinic in how not to defend from our usually reliable center back. However, Robbo finished a great wing move from Baz and Rang, before Smitty used his tiny scrawny back to good effect in a corner, putting the Pumas ahead.

Second half saw more Puma control, with Robbo cherry picking after a great shot from fill in Justin, before first Erik and then Windy capped off the scoring. Dimo showed he is a true utility, having a great first game in the back line. Dru capped off his amazing show by first calling for a ball, then forgetting he called for it and leaving the Thunder with their best chance of the match, which was pushed wide. Not content, he then completely missed a clearance and continued running to the bench, off the field and onto the toilet. Well played.

MOTM: Probably needs to be Baz. Had a stellar game at back/ruck rover, being all over the field, putting on a clinic, even chipping around his man from deep in the pocket.

U8 Green Round 14

8-0 win vs WPH-Cherrybrook
Scorers: Lachlan Dewar 4, Lachlan Guy 3, Jonah 1

Wow! All the boys were on fire this week! Each team member played their part with the boys in defense setting up the play for the attacks to score. Great job Riley and Corey for your strong defense and big kicks down the field. Lachlan Guy scored our first goal and Jonah followed up with another shortly after. Well done boys. This set the scene for the rest of the match with Lachlan Dewar punching through the 3rd goal, taking turns with Lachlan Guy to score all the remaining goals kicked for the match. A great job all round with Lachlan Dewar awarded Player of the Match this week for his great goal scoring.

U11/3 Round 14

3-0 win vs Hills Hawks
Scorers: Joel Crawford 2, Ayrton Lucero 1
The score line does not accurately depict this game. We were missing 5 players today due to holidays and illness. The Hawks played hard all game and held possession well. Our backs had to work hard to defend our goal line all game. They managed to fight off a number of attacking movements well. Our regular goalie was away and Ben S filled in. He did an amazing job, earning himself man of the match for saving a number of goals, putting his body on the line to do so.

Thank you to Ari Lucero and Hugh Bingham for making themselves available to fill in for us if needed.

U8 Green Round 14

0-4 loss vs Redbacks
I think the boys were all in holiday mode still for this game! They didn’t have their normal drive and we played a mainly defensive game. Our goalies (Jasper and Zachary) had a good workout and saved plenty. While we had a few close attempts at scoring from Tim and Bryson, we were no match for the Redbacks.

Congratulations to Ben for getting Player of the Match. He was our Energizer Bunny today, running and covering lots of positions while chasing the ball. Well done.
