U12/2 Round 2
3-0 win v Thornleigh
SCORERS: Ben Mendoza, Timothy Ng, Joel Crawford
The boys faced a tough opponent this week who had recorded strong results leading up to this game.
Our boys began strong with some early perseverance up front resulting in a goal from Ben Mendoza. Before the break, some strong attack again allowed Tim Ng to calmly hit the back of the net to make it 2-0. Our attack continued well into the second half with a penalty conceded by the opposition in the box. Joel skillfully slotted the ball passed the keeper for the final score. The midfield and backs were very solid throughout the game, denying the opposition any real chance to attack. Joel was Man Of The Match. Well played boys.
AA11 Round 2
3-1 win v Putney Rangers
Scorers: Levent 2, Kyle 1
Starting against 9 Putney men at Morrison Bay, the Pumas dominated the first passages without managing to get on the score sheet. We briefly reverted to U14′s, with all our subs running onto the field before others were off, with only the mass confusion avoiding the cards. Fines all round. Our first serious attempts came from Erik and Clayts, who hit the post and hit Homebush respectively. Our play outside the box was actually quite pleasing, using the space the extra men gave us, but without making it count on the score sheet. Levente eventually broke the deadlock with a good drive busting through the otherwise on fire keeper. However, a break away and some lax defending saw Putney level at 1-1 at half time.
Second half was all about setting corners taken records. We must have had at least 10-12 in the half, but couldn’t make any count as Putney flooded the box with 8 defenders, leaving their pacey striker as the lone man up front. Putney did well in repelling attack after attack, before Levente hit from the top of the box and Kyle turned in at the far post to give us a deserved lead. 2-1 and we thought we were home, however the Putney striker managed to latch on to a ball, and while under big pressure from Dru got off what would have been an equalizer but for Az’s full stretch touch onto the underside of the bar and scramble. The rebound saw Kyle set up Levente in space to slot the Pumas 3rd and wrap the game up.
MOTM: Levente with a double that saved our blushes against a hard fighting 10 man Rangers.
U9/2 Round 2
8-0 win v Normanhurst
The Under 9 Division 2 Team had an amazing match today. In the opening minutes Ollie scored the first goal. A few minutes later, Ryan, as goalkeeper, stopped the Thornleigh team from scoring! The whole team worked together and soon Ollie scored a 2nd and 3rd goal followed by an impressive cross goal by Fletcher. In the 2nd half, another goal by Ollie and 2 more amazing goals by Thomas! The final score: 8-0. Well done U8 Div 2 Pumas!!!
U9/4 Round 2
1-4 loss v North Epping Rangers
SCORERS: James Guy + 1
We had a great first half, with the boys scoring soon after kick off, thanks to our forwards being perfectly positioned. However, by the second half, you could see that the boys were getting very tired. By not keeping to their positions, they were running all over the place and tiring themselves out. We did have a few close goal attempts, but unfortunately none went in.
A special thank you to Lachlan for filling in again (from Under 7’s).
Player of the Match was awarded to Awstin. He never gave up in his chase for the ball. Well done.
U9/2 Round 1
2-3 loss v West Pennant Hills
SCORERS: Caleb and Fletcher
Our team pulled together in their first match of the season on the bigger field and worked very hard. 1st half Fletcher, Ollie and Thomas were solid in the forward positions with Marcos, Charlie and later Ryan in the mids. There was strong support from the guys in defence Jesse, Caleb and Bryson. Jentezen worked hard in the goalie position. It was a tough game against a formidable team. The 2nd half there was a shuffle of players and we came close to scoring to draw but the ball just would not pass between those two important posts. We done boys with more time playing together and some great coaching from Kim and Jurgen we will get stronger and more united. Keep enjoying soccer and keep up your home practice as next week is new game.

The wet weather has forced a couple of ground changes. Check the updated draw to see if your game time or location has changed.
U6, U7, U8, AA20, AA8, AA15 and AA3 games are postponed and will be replayed later in the season.
AA11 – Round 1
7-2 win v Normanhurst
Scorers: Clayts (p), Rang 1.0, M Southy, Levente, Robbo, Kyle, Erik
A great start to the season, despite the Sunday game, with the Pumas true to form with 4 out at an engagement party, Orthodox Easter claiming another and Smitty battling through pneumonia by hitting the bottle in the city on Sat night. AA12 to the rescue with 2 x Southys, Ranga 1.0, Dan and Darryl all filling holes for us.
We started really well, pinging the ball around nicely on KP2, avoiding the beach in the middle. Kyle was breathed on in the box, and the resultant penalty was jubilantly converted by Clayts, who is 1 goal closer to his bounty after Kyle disparaged his goal scoring ability in preseason and backed it up with drinkable goods. Further efforts were frustrated with some inconsistent offside calls, and this came back to haunt us as a Crouchy mistake (only one in the game) lead to the equaliser. Obviously riddled with guilt from the earlier penalty, the ref then pointed to the spot after a corner. Our confusion was only matched by the whistle-mans when queried as to the cause of the penalty, but Normo converted well to go into half time 2-1 up.
The second half was 45 minutes of the best football the Pumas have put together. But the time the final whistle went, 6 goals had gone in, with highlights being M Southy’s booming drive, Robbo’s deft touch after Kyles set up shop in the box and started selling dummies, and Levente’s weaving run to put away his first for the Pumas. Bazzo Clayts and Kyle all provided great feed from the backline, with Harker running riot all game in the middle, being well supported by Erik and Levente. Crouchy continues to improve out of sight, hitting the bar and using the ball well. Well done to the boys, getting us off to the best possible start.
MOTM: Harker: Dommed the midfield all day, but was unlucky to hit the keeper with every shot.
U9/4 Round 1
0-5 loss v North Ryde SC
Despite losing, the boys enjoyed themselves today. They are still getting used to playing together, as well as being on a larger field and with new rules, but with time and practice, they will continue to improve.
The other team gave us a good run around and we had a good number of attempts at scoring. By the second half, the boys were passing better between themselves, but we were just no match for the other team. The boys in defense did a great job too of getting the ball out of their area with some great kicking.
A special thank you to Lachlan for filling in (from Under 7’s) and thus allowing some of our players to have a rest.
Player of the Match was awarded to James for his consistent effort throughout the entire game. He never stopped giving chase of the ball and gave it his all.
U12/2 – Round 1
1-0 win v Normanhurst Eagles
SCORERS: Daniel Wilkins
Great start to the season. The boy’s first match in division 2 was a closely fought contest.
The boy’s had a few opportunities to score in the first half but narrowly missed. Some good teamwork up front resulted in Daniel scoring midway through the second half. The team defended well to hold out for a win. Daniel Wilkins was man of the match. Every one played well and contributed to the result.
U12/2 – Dural Cup
1-1 draw v Redfield
Trial match with a good start to the season. The boys have moved up a grade and this was a positive result given that the opposition were very competitive in that division last season. An own goal by Redfield saw us go up 1 nil after half time, however a late goal by them tied the score. A very evenly fought game on a very wet and slow field. We look forward to the season ahead.
